Erik DaRosa 2020 Mountain Bike Coach
Born and raised in New England, Erik, affectionately known by friends and clients as “Yoda,” now resides in Snowmass Village, Colorado where he works as a PSIA-certified ski instructor for the Aspen Skiing Company. In 2011, Erik traded in a successful career as a NYC finance executive for skis and bikes and hasn’t looked back since. Based at Snowmass, home of the famous Hanging Valley, Erik averages 150 days on snow annually and can often be found floating his way through the powder and trees in The Weird Woods. Aside from Aspen, Erik has been lucky enough to ski in such picturesque places as Zermatt, Switzerland and Wanaka, New Zealand.
When he is not on the slopes, Erik enjoys all disciplines of cycling, including road and cyclocross, and most specifically mountain. He is a former Masters cyclocross racer who traded in his racing license for a BICP coaching license. During the past four seasons, Erik has both coached and guided for Roaring Fork Cycling, the Snowmass Bike School and, most recently, Sacred Cycle.
When asked what led Erik to venture into mountain bike coaching: “In my everyday role as a professional ski instructor, I work with skiers of all abilities in their quest for on-mountain fun and learning in often complex and unpredictable terrain. It is my passion for teaching and exploring that environment, combined with my love of cycling, that led me to seek out a similar challenge in mountain biking.”
Erik earned his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and his BA in Economics from Brandeis University. He lives in Snowmass Village, Colorado with his wife Amy and two cats, Lincoln and Taylor.
