2019 Season is on the Horizon

What an epic year for snow it’s been. I’m guessing few people are thinking about riding bikes just yet; however, at Sacred Cycle the cycling season never ends. We’ve been busy gearing up for another year of programming. Our most recent exciting news is a new partnership with Specialized Bikes. They believe in the Sacred Cycle mission and are outfitting our 2019 clients with bikes, shoes, and helmets!

Please join us in a few short weeks for our annual winter event at Vail’s Betteridge Jewelers. We’re excited to have Author Tracy Ross as our guest speaker! Feeling lucky? Betteridge has generously donated a gorgeous luxury watch for the raffle. While you don’t need to be present to win, we sure hope you can make it. Please see more details below.

Thank you, friends and family, for your ongoing support!

Warmly,

Heather Russell, Executive Director

EVENTS

A Sacred Cycle Fundraising Evening at Betteridge
March 22, 2019 5-7pm  |
Join us at Betteridge Jewelers in Vail Village as we share our passion for empowering survivors of sexual abuse and assault by using mountain biking as a method of therapy. We are honored to have Tracy Ross, author of The Source of All Things, join us and speak about her personal experience with sexual trauma and recovery. Tracy Ross’s adult life has been defined by her determination to push herself to the physical limits of what a person can endure. In The Source of All Things, she struggles to reconcile her stepfather’s abuse with her desire to make her family whole again.

In addition to hearing Tracy speaker, you’ll have a chance to win a luxury timepiece from Betteridge with a $100 donation to Sacred Cycle (Need not to be present to win. Purchase $100 raffle tickets online in advance through March 21.). RSVP to Jeannine@Betteridge.com by March 22nd. Walk-ins welcome if space available.

Learn more about our event speaker. The Source of All Things Author, Tracy Ross, reveals her powerful memoir about the struggle to come to terms with her childhood abuse at the hands of her stepfather.

Program Spotlight: Staying in Touch

The opportunity for our clients to have daily check-ins, via email, with other survivors is one of the components of the Sacred Cycle program, long after the season has ended. The daily check-ins are a way to support and be supported throughout the year. Clients are asked to share things they are grateful for. Aspects of themselves or their lives may be kick-ass and going well. Others areas may bring sorrow or grief. Either way, it makes for a simple and powerful format. Participation is encouraged and honored.

“Knowing that there’s a web of individuals who are willing to listen and understand is one of the most powerful motivators around.”  ~Sacred Cycle Client

Rethinking How Rape Cases are Investigated

It’s a tumultuous time, in the wake of the Me Too Movement, with seemingly endless disappointing news surrounding sexual transgressions. From the realization of decades of anguish caused by clergy sexual abuse and the high-profile cases in the news where justice for survivors seems like an illusion, an inspiring story was brought to our attention early this year. This article is part of a series on the failures of the justice system but highlights progress being made in the field.
